How Codero updated their data centre strategy

Codero Hosting's business model is based on providing customers with reliable, scalable hosting to grow their businesses. To that end, Codero offers a unique, on-demand hybrid cloud solution, as well as outstanding technical support, that enables its users to scale their operations easily and economically 24/7. Recently, Codero sought an outsourced Tier III data centre.

"We knew that this next location wouldn't be our only expansion location, so we needed a partner with a large footprint that we could grow with over the long term," stated Emil Sayegh, president and CEO of Codero Hosting, in a Digital Realty case study. “We definitely needed a Tier III, top-notch facility, away from natural disasters, where we could hire people in a cost-effective manner and have efficient power costs.”

How Codero and Digital Realty created a data centre strategy that worked for Codero
Codero, which was founded in the early 1990s, already had self-managed data centre facilities in Phoenix, Chicago, and Ashburn, Virginia. For its fourth data centre, it teamed up with Digital Realty to create a solution that met Codero's strategic objectives:

  • Data centre design: Digital Realty's campus-style data centre near Dallas-Fort Worth had state-of-the-art amenities, along with its own on-site power distribution station and robust physical security.
  • Connectivity: In addition to power and cooling, Digital Realty provided dark fibre enabling Codero to connect to network providers through the Infomart in Dallas.
  • Fuel supplies and uptime: Digital Realty's fuel supplier programme, which includes first-response status with both regional and national fuel providers on the same level as FEMA and the Department of Defense, gives it expedited access to fuel deliveries in the event of a crisis or natural disaster, allowing Codero to sustain operations even in the event of a power outage.
  • Low-risk location: The Dallas-Fort Worth area is not prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, fire and other natural disasters that could take a data centre offline.

Codero's customers depend on it for 100 percent uptime. They use its on-demand solutions to spin up elastic and dedicated instances, all over a single private network. While Codero has an established track record for both its support and the consistency of its hosting services, it wanted to go further in ensuring the best possible experience to users all around the globe.

Codero can now devote more time to its core business and less to day-to-day data centre management, thanks to its ability to rely on Digital Realty's infrastructure and expertise.
