Hybrid Cloud Taking Off, Say CIOs

A few months ago, we asked a complicated question right here on our blog: which is best for your business-a public, private, or hybrid cloud solution?

Although our answer was that what's best depends entirely on your organisation's unique needs, we also noted in that blog post that hybrid cloud solutions are becoming increasingly common these days.

As it turns out, we're not the only ones who see the hybrid cloud market taking off. In a special report by Steve Rosenbush of the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Rosenbush states that demand for the hybrid cloud, according to researcher MarketsandMarkets, is growing at a compound rate of 27%-much more than the growth rate of the dungaree IT market.

In his report, Mr. Rosenbush examined key findings from MarketandMarkets' research. He also had conversations with CIOs from around the enterprise to give some context to the research. What he found was that "CIOs are demanding a way to combine the best of the cloud with their own localized data centres." Hybrid cloud solutions enable CIOs to do just that, so it's no wonder that MarketsandMarkets expects, according to Mr. Rosenbush, the hybrid cloud market to be worth an astounding $84.67 billion by 2019, up from $25.28 billion in 2014.

From the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, to Coach Inc., to the Inova Translational Medicine Institute in Virginia, organizations around the world are embracing hybrid cloud solutions. Such solutions enable organizations to continue to benefit from the investment they've made in on-premise infrastructure, whilst also utilizing the scalability and convenience of public cloud.

If the MarketsandMarkets research and Rosenbush's conversations are to be believed-and we think they are-then there's a very bright future ahead for hybrid cloud solutions.

Here at Telx, we're pleased to say that we have many partners in the Telx Cloud Xchange who offer tailored hybrid cloud solutions to meet your unique business needs. Lume, for example, is our newest Cloud Xchange partner and offers a convenient burstable hybrid cloud solution which eliminates the need to over-provision.

Telx customers also have the option to mix and match any combination of Telx colocation services with Faction's public or private cloud solutions through the Cloud Xchange. And those are only two of the many partners whose hybrid solutions your business can use.

Whether you want to utilise an investment you've already made into on-premise infrastructure whilst deploying select applications into the cloud, or you're starting from scratch and want to build out a flexible cloud environment, Telx's cloud ecosystem has what you need.

We believe, as suggested by the projections included in Mr. Rosenbush's report, that the hybrid cloud is set to soar in the coming years. Individual public and private cloud deployments absolutely still have their place, but there's no denying the benefits of an environment where you're able to select the platform that is best suited for a given workload.
