Press Release: ClearSky Data, Digital Realty Collaborate to Enhance Global Storage Network Connectivity

August 27, 2015

BOSTON – August 26, 2015 – ClearSky Data, provider of a global storage network that manages the entire enterprise data lifecycle, today announced an ecosystem partnership with Digital Realty, a leading provider of premium data centers, to improve enterprise connectivity and storage infrastructure for users worldwide. The ClearSky Data solution is the first of its kind, combining the performance and availability of local enterprise storage with the scalability and economics of the cloud. This collaboration will leverage Digital Realty’s global footprint of highly interconnected world-class data centers to deliver a fully managed, software-defined storage solution to provide enterprises with complete access, control and manageability of data when they need it. As a result, ClearSky Data will alleviate latency issues and reduce storage costs by more than 60 percent for global customers.

Today’s enterprise storage treadmill is an endless cycle that demands IT professionals frequently refresh infrastructure and expand capacity. ClearSky Data breaks this cycle by dramatically simplifying storage management and delivering agile, on-demand access to data. ClearSky Data offers enterprises a new way to plug into primary storage, backup and disaster recovery infrastructure, delivered as a fully managed service from points of presence in major metro areas. Digital Realty helps ClearSky provide customers with access to their high-performance data sets when they’re needed most, with full enterprise availability and security.

“Digital Realty’s footprint, network of carriers and direct connectivity options support our enterprise needs and fuel projected growth,” said Ernesto DiGiambattista, chief technology and security officer at Sentinel Benefits and Financial Group and customer of both ClearSky Data and Digital Realty. “Plugging into primary storage from ClearSky Data has added to the momentum and value of these services and enhanced the benefits of the Digital Realty ecosystem.”

Digital Realty provides agile data center solutions across a global footprint with coverage in worldwide metro areas, forging strong carrier relationships while offering low-latency metro connect routes to cloud platforms, including access to Amazon Web Services, SoftLayer and Microsoft Azure. Digital Realty’s solutions offer its users direct connectivity to support business growth by empowering their hybrid strategies and leveraging Digital Realty’s global colocation scale and expertise.

“Enterprise storage is a major part of any IT team’s critical initiatives,” said Bill Bradley, senior vice president of partners, alliances and strategy at Digital Realty. “With its pay-as-you-go model, ClearSky Data is an ideal enterprise use case for Digital Realty’s resources, services and assets.”

Ellen Rubin, CEO of ClearSky Data, said, “End users expect services to be available on demand, at any location around the world. Primary storage should be no different.
