We monitor and manage energy and water use across our global portfolio. Our conservation efforts include site audits, low- and no-cost upgrades, capital projects with measurable impact, and utility incentive programs.

Energy conservation

We aim to continually improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and cut operating costs—benefiting both our business and our customers.

In 2024, we saved 42,400 MWh of energy and avoided 28,500 metric tons of CO2e through energy efficiency projects. We apply ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 frameworks and benchmark performance through programs like ENERGY STAR. 69% of our U.S. portfolio is ENERGY STAR certified by managed IT capacity.

Waste and water conservation

We prioritize water efficiency across our portfolio, especially in regions facing water scarcity. Our dry cooling systems are designed to avoid water evaporation, and we take a holistic approach to reducing water demand—from installing high-efficiency plumbing fixtures to using drought-tolerant landscaping and capturing rainwater where feasible.

In 2024, 42% of our total water use came from non-potable sources, such as reclaimed municipal water used for cooling and irrigation. We also saw a 14% reduction in WUE across our North America colocation portfolio from the previous year.
